Brickwork that is twice as strong as standard brickwork and offers much greater earthquakes resistance – with MuReso® we have created a system that represents a real milestone in building with brick walls.
With a thickness of just 15 cm, MuReso® is the thinnest full-wall system available on the market and also offers horizontal resistance many times higher than standard brickwork. This is thanks to system components that have been perfectly tailored to one another. The high-strength MuReso® modular brick has an optimised hole pattern and forms a solid basis in combination with the specially developed MuReso® skimming mortar. The outstanding resistance to seismic forces is due to the MuReso® fabric mesh, which is installed on both sides and integrated in a 3-mm-thick layer of MuReso® embedding mortar before a further 5 mm of the same mortar is added. The external reinforcement offers around a twentyfold improvement in buckling and transverse bending properties and out-of-plane properties in the event of wind and earthquakes. As a special MuReso® slab bearing is installed on every MuReso® system wall, the elastic bearings ensure that horizontal forces are distributed without tension across all walls when in normal operation or during minor earthquakes. In extreme earthquakes, the bearings yield and absorb the supercritical deformation while the rest of the MuReso® system wall remains undamaged.
Increasingly strict technical requirements in terms of seismic safety – most recently due to the partly revised SIA 261:2020 standard – restrict the use of pure brick walls. With the MuReso® brickwork system, apartment buildings of up to twelve floors can be built above ground without concrete walls. Thanks to the streamlined MuReso® system walls, the developer gains additional living space, which offers significant added value. As they are brick walls, MuReso® system walls also contribute to a particularly cosy and harmonious living climate.
